The Community Inclusion Club (CIC) continues its efforts to support Unified Sports and will be sponsoring softball this spring and summer. Our practices will be held at Napoleon Park softball diamonds beginning in May of 2026 with the regional tournament being held on July 25 in Cedar Rapids and the state tournament being held on August 1st in Grimes. Unified Sports pairs people with intellectual disabilities (ID) (referred to as athletes) and their non-disabled peers (referred to as partners) on the same team. Last year we fielded four teams and we anticipate fielding four teams again this summer. CIC is always looking for partners and for people willing to coach. Coaching involves being at and helping to direct practices and accompanying the team to tournaments (2) and being a partner involves attending as many practices as possible (1 time per week) during the spring and committing to playing in the tournaments in July and August. If you are interested in either coaching or being a partner or would like additional information, please contact us at communityinclusiongclub@gmail.com
