Who We Are
The Community Inclusion Club (CIC) is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2022 and we are governed by a diverse board comprised of people with and without intellectual disabilities (ID). Our goal is to improve the lives of adults with ID in our community by providing socially inclusive opportunities for them in our community. We also encourage their non-disabled peers to join our club. According to the National Institute of Health and the National Library of Medicine, “People with disability experienced loneliness, low perceived social support and social isolation at significantly higher rates than people without disability. “ We want to help end social isolation in our community, and you can help CIC fulfill its mission by volunteering today! We hold at least one group event in the corridor area each month and we would love to have you come and join the fun! All members of our club are vetted using the Iowa Courts Online and National Abuse Registry systems. This is done to help ensure the safety of our club members.
What We Do
Our mission is to hold socially inclusive events where people with and without intellectual disabilities can hang out, get to know each other and form friendships with each other and their non-disabled peers.
