Responsible for supervising and staffing medical student examiners during our evening Acute Clinics. MDs must have an Iowa license and liability coverage (either private or through the state program VHCPP) in order to volunteer. Medical students (M3/M4/MSTP) at the Carver College of Medicine who have completed an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine rotation, PA-Cs, and ARNPs can volunteer as an examiner. Provide patient care during our Acute care clinics.

Students with an interest in health sciences. Duties include rooming patients, getting height and weight, taking vitals (temp, pulse, blood pressure), and wiping down/cleaning rooms after patient has left.

Proficiency in Spanish, French or Arabic is required. Because of the sensitive nature of medical appointments, strong fluency and a robust knowledge of medical terminology is a must. Previous experience interpreting in a medical setting a plus.

Assist the Office Coordinator with various clerical duties such as pulling charts, filing, alphabetizing,  printing labels, etc. (This position has flexible hours!)

Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy students preferred but not required. Volunteer is responsible for filling and dispensing medications under the supervision of a physician from our on-site dispensary.

Skilled, experienced individuals responsible for performing phlebotomy blood draws, dipstick urinalysis, and other CLIA waved lab tests. Must already know how to draw blood. Transportation is required as the lab volunteer will deliver specimens to an outside lab for processing after clinic.
